PROSECUTION OF THE- CAMPAIGN FURTHER MEETINGS IN NELSON.' The usual Saturday nigfot open-air NoLicense meeting was addressed, by various • speakers. "Mr. A. T. Mjagixmity .presided. The Rev. R. d-e Lambert spoke of the success of no-lietjuse at Masterton, In/vercargiil, Oamaru and other .places. He, 'had lived at Oamaru -vender license and under no-license, and he was convinced of the success of mo-'.license. There was no> need to- go to America ( qr Australia for information, \ for where tried ami New Zealand no-license hiad been a- success. In' ihis oipiniou the moderate drinkers, were responsible for the existence of the liquor traffic. The ißev. \B. L. Thomas considered the liquor question was the m-dst 'burning question of_the day. He condemnedk tlh© tliree-fifths majority, but said that the No-License party was. growing and the "the liquor traffic would soon be decided- by t3i© people. Rev. O. F. Saunders could speak of the moral effect of drinki, as he had seen something of it on. the West Coast. He denounced t'he custom of "shouting," which taught young men to drink. Votes of 1 hanks were accorded the speakers and chairman on the motion of Mr. N. A. Ma'claren.
MEETING AT STOKE. On. Friday evening a. no-license meeting was held; in the Public- Hall at Stoke. The chair was occupied bv Mr W. J. Murrell, and - addresses were delivered by Mr N. A. McLaren and Air G. E. Bodley.
