■ (Communicated. - ) ~ Mr. ■Fv'W. Smith, is holding very successful,', meetings in &hte Gulden Jiay district. A very large meeting was held in Collingwood on Monday night, Mr. Allan in the chair. At the conclusion of a two-hotir address Mr. Allan moved a hearty vote of thanks, seconded by Mr. Bassett. who remarked that a vote of confidence would ibe given at the ballot •box. A large meeting was held at Bainham on Tuesday night, and at Aorere on Wednesday! At tho latter iplace the whole meeting 'pledging itstvf to secure Mr. Smith's return. At Ferntown on- Thursday night the population- turned out. en masse, and a most successful meeting was he'd. Successful meetings were also held through, the Takaka Valley.
