Captain Sproule, representative of the Oceanic Company, interviewed in reference to the resumption of the San Fr.:incisco-Svdriev service, states that his Company's'steamers the Ventura. Sierra and Sonoma are being reconstructed at a .cost of 1.,000.C00 dollars with a view to starting a service. It is proposed to ask the Federal --Government to subsidise £ISOO a- trip on a basis of twelve trips a. year. The steamers have a guaranteed --peed of 17 knots, and will make the trip from San .Francisco to Sydney in 20 days. Th-s -Company also guarantees (o land the mails in London in 30 days.
