ENGINEER'S REPORT,
(Uncted Phess Association.) WANGANTJI, Friday. The Wangauui Harbour Board tonight received from Mr' EesLie Reynolds, the consulting- engineer, nis report on the harbour echem'es. His estimate nrovides for a at tlie entrance' of 24 or 25 feet at low wa,ttir, equal to 32 or. 33 feet at high T.hiis depth will be obtained by the" extension, of the moles. His estimate 'ako provides for a. floating basin of 25 acres a,t dreclged, to a •depth of 20 feet below low water. The basin is to be.- enclosed/ by a wall. The tota'. area, which. pi-py;;d)es for future developments, is 35 acres. An up-to-date dred-ys is a]c, o Drovided for. The. total estimate for this work is £IBB,OOO. The .report Jeais with, deepening the ■channel, to a depth "of 17 feet. Mr Reynolds was also asked to report on the project of making- a. floating basin at th; town instead of at Castjecliff, a.n-d hi* estimate i* £417,470, which means thai this scheme will not be considered' any further.
