Mr J. R. Dennistoun, of Peel Forest, 'South Canterbury, gave a "Dominion" reporter some details of hlis mountakieerinor in the Southern Alp>-; during the Christmas holidays, accompanied by the well-known guide -''Jack" Clark. -Mr Dennistoux reached the Hermitage on December 2. and made his head-quarters, there. Flis doings on subsequent day. s ~ fineluded the following:—Climbed Mt. Seely (in one day from the Her-P-.itage); climbed the Footstool; climbed the Nun's Veil, with. . Miss Deruiston and Mis-s Julius (the' fifthascent); climbed Elaie de Beaumont. 10,200 feet, with j3-uide Clark and Mias Julius (the second complete ascent) «Miss Julius being the first lady to make the ascent); climbed _Mt. Aylmer, a maiden snow peak ; climbed 'both, peaks of the Minarets and re La Beche.
