A CREDIT BALANCE TO BEMADT. .Tho City Council sat as a Drainage Committee last evening, -when all the Councillors were present with the (>x_ eeption of Cr. Pettit. _-• -The Town Clerk reported that the following accounts were indebted to ""the Drainage 'Account viz.: —Gas £370 13s Id; Water, £11.55; General' ' £98 Is lOd; Abattoir £4 Is 6d; total £484 Us sd. * '' O. Bisley thought that the posit'on disclosed showed that there should be a change in the method of conducting business. It meant that tho year's allocations were already reduced by abont £500. ' The Town Clerk stated that Cr. "- 3isley was not correct. The alloca. lotions were made in respect of Ihe "^General Account which was affected - teethe extent of £98. Cr. There were liabilities amounting to_ £240. leaving a net credit of-£1623 Is 6a , (approximately). The Engineer estimated that it , would take £1536 to complete the 06 I chains of work remaining, leaving a "'balance of £870. " The Town Clerk was instructed to sue for the amounts owing for drain, age work after 21 days' notice^ «ad been given.
