'NEW Friday A meeting of the National Defence League to.night passed a resolution favouring universal training / /A WAIBAEAPA MOVEMENT MASTEBTON. Friday. At a well attended meeting of the' committee and supporters of universal military training this evening, the fol. .lowing resolution was "enthusiastically carried:—"That notwithstanding the enthusiasm of the Volunteers, . the -voluntary system does not provide adequate means of defence, and we therefore ask -the Government to introduce a system of universal train. ing of the young men; and that a copy of this * resolution be telegraphed to the'Premier/'" _ ' "AT WELLINGTON AND SUBURBS. WELLINGTON. Friday. Meetings in support of the agita. tion for universal military trailing were held to.night in Wellington, 'Newtown. Kelburne. Worser Bay. and Petone The night was •iiorniy. _ nevertheless there were satisfaclpry attendances, and the speakers were listened to 'attentively. Resolutions - in favour of compulsory military train. ing wero carried at all the meetings " with little opposition.
