The Waihi mine, which ranks as one of the greatest propositions in the ■ world, having produced in the last 18 years nearly £7,500,000, and paid to , its shareholders over £3,000,000, is iigain entering upon an interesting .stage of development by the opening up of No. 10 lovim ;it a depth of 1000 feet. Consistent with the developments of the upper levels, tho results of operations at the moment of washing are moat satisfactory, the exploitation thr-wing the two reefs, the Royal and the Empire, ot tiie scries of 16 met with n tin; higher levels, to be of j equil strength and, value, the present , tendency indicating even improvement. In the meantime thr;> winzes from the No 4 level are being sink on tho Empire, and one winzo on th? Royal.
