The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following ! cable from the High Commissioner, ! dated London, Bth February: — The wool sales closed firm, with a good-de-mand for all descriptions, but, except for lots suitable for America, . which are a halfpenny higher, the opening Rain on medium and coarse qualities is lost. Values generally are now about the same as at December sales. America purchased freely, but the market is uncertain, but hopeful. Estimated values are as follows: — Superior merino, ]1 1 .-;<1 to Is lK'iV, medium, 9d to ]ld; inferior, O'itl to B^d; fine eroscbreds ell grades, lid to Is Hvjd; medium, SVid to lid; coarse, 6d to 9d.
