DREADFUL RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
A GUARD MUTILATED AND KILLED. [United Press Association] AUCKLAND, Tuesday. While railway trucks were being shunted at Otahuhu Station at two o'clock this morning, Guard W. Bailie was riding on the cow-catcher, when ' he either slipped or lost his hold, and 1 fell. The engine and trucks passed over his body, and his back and neck were broken, one arm was cut off, and tho body was terribly battered. Death was probably instantaneous.
