RETRENCHMENT IN WEST AUSTRALIA.
INCREASED TAXATION AND ECONOMY. PERTH, Wednesday. The Stato Treasurer has delivered his Budget. The year ended with a deficit of £2365. Tho estimated revenue fflr the current year i.s £3.390,579, and tlie estimated deficit is £210,000. He **aid the strictest economy was necesary. There would be no salary increases, and land and inconio taxes would be reimposed. He proposed a penny- in the shilling tax on sports, amusements, and race meetings. •
