GARRISON BAND BAZAAR.
THE OPENING NIGHT. The Garrison Band's bazaar was opened at the Drill Hall last evening, there teing a very large attendance. The Mayor officially opened the bazaar, and said that the Band was a good one, and was well worthy of support, and no hoped that the bazaar would be a great financial success. At the call of theMayor three cheers were given for the Band. The general "get up" of the bazaar was very favourably commented on. Last evening the programme comprised dumb bell and club swinging by a squad of College Cadets, and marches by children and young women under the direction of Miss Watson. The ; various performances were warmly applauded. The College Calets" squad was composed of Smith (leader), Monroe, Bryan, McNab, W. King, and Duigan. Selections were played by tha Band, and also by an orchestra under Bandmaster H. Berryman. The list of stall-holders and their assistants is as follows : — Work stall : Mesdames Vaughan and Kragahen (principals). Misses Supp, Hunter and Deal (assistants). Art stall: Miss Barltrop (p V pai), Misses Guy, Thomas, Moore, EJwaida (2), Hull, Crisp, Rowell, *r.i Phone assistants). Sweet stall : Mr s Laffin Misses Jelly, Manson, Thomas, Vaughan, Whittakcr and Nighti.i s ale (assistants). .Tumble stall: Mr s Millar (pnn:ip,v), Misses Robertson (2), Oldershaw, and Gardiner (assistants). . . Produce stall: Mts Hindley (principall, Miss Lock, assistant. Tobacco stall : Miss Jones (principal), Miss Hunter (assistant). Tea kiosk: Mr s Lemmer (principal), Mra. Gordon, Misses Rowe (2), Sherwood, Hanby, E. Burford,, Sampson, Kelling, Lowe, Walton, Fairhall, Ey'.es, Hesseltine, and Gordon (assistants). Bran pie : Misses Linehani and Stapp.Gipsy tent : Miss Shone. Art gallery :Mr H. Leaper. ' Telegraph office : Messrs Simpson, Jones and Louisson. The Ladies' Committee, which carried out the arrangements in connection with the stalls, comprised Mesdames H. Livick (president), Oldershaw (secretary), Vaughan, Laffin, Gordon, and Miss Barltrop. The competitions resulted a s follows : — Best pinafore, Mrs Cousins, special mention; cocoanut ice, Miss Stevens; heaviest hen's eens, Mrs Webber; Tur. kish delight, Miss Cannington; sponge foil, Mrs T. Hughes. During the bazaar there will be a change of programme nightly, and new danee s will be presented each evening.
