The, European Legations have claims -arising out. of his robberies and extortions. His arrest occurred at the instance of Mulai Hafid's commander-in-chief, after Ermiki's proceedings at Laache necessitated armed European intervention. His nephew, a German protege, was released. and thereupon Germany '- . claimed the Kaid's release, and showed a list of. seven members of the Kaid's family; as being German protected subiects. t Menebhi replied that the Kaid was solely a Moorish official, and not a protege, and Germany was overstepping her riehts. The German excuse is that the Kaid served" Mulai Hafid's interests well. TO-DAY'S CABLES. MULAI IN A DILEMMA. (Received September 11, 8.20 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday.
