COST OF A TANGI.
[United Press Association. J
WELLINGTON, Wednes.
The cost of the tangi over the late Tamahau Mahupuku was the subject of argument in the Supreme Court to-day. Mahupuku died early in 1904, and me tangi lasted for three or four months. Mr Loasby, storekeeper, at Greytown, sued the Public Trustee, as administrator of the estate, for £11 3s 6d for goods sold and delivered in connection with the tangi. Mr James, S.M., gave judgment in favour of plaintiff for _ii. ls 6d, and against that decision the Public Trustee' has appealed. The question which is being argued to-day is whether the administrator of an estate is liable for the cost of a tangi or whoiher according to Maori custom the visitors to the tangi do not bring certain portion of the foods required.
