BURSTING OF THE JINGO f BUBBLE. 3 IMPORTANT EXPLANATIONS. I NEW YORK, Friday. Tho "New York World" attributes J to President Roosevelt the statement that he had given no order to the Navy t Board to send a battleship fleet to the 0 Pacific, and that he was unaware that a. the Board had issued any such order. The fleeti will go on a cruise early in the fall for the purpose of engaging in maF noeuvres, and it may go to the Pacific ; ; but the destination has not yet been do--1 termined. It is added that the plans i- havo absolutely no significance with ree gard to the Japanese question, which g President Roosevelt does not consider serious. The "World" expresses the belief that 0 President Rosevelt .will not consent to i- send the fleeti to the Western coast, and I, declares that the jingo demonstration is i, finished. The paper attributes it to rii, ; diculous 4th July bunkum talked by Mr y Motcalf, Secretary to the Navy. The newspaper adds that there are some signs of California's beginning to regret s- the campaign and trying to appease the i- ill-feeling.
