Craig asked whether Mr Birrell, Chief Secretary for Ireland, ' was aware that Mr P. Kelly, a magistrate, in a speech at the New Inn, Galway, had declared that if Lord Ashbourn, a local landlord who is under constant and strict police protection, lived at Killane or Loughrea, he would have been on a stretcher long ago, the same as r John Blake, who Mr Craig explained was shot dead in 1883. Mr Kelly had added that the men of Woodlawn lacked the courage and manliness to treat Lord Ashtov.ii as he should be treated. Mr Birrell replied that the speeches of the magistrate was under the consideration of the Government.
