OPPOSITION LEADERS AT AUCKLAND. • AN EARLY DISSOLUTION PREDICTED. [United Pbess Association.] AUCKLAND, Wednerday. A large gathering of the Political Reform League was held this evening, when Mr W. Herries, M.H.R., predicted that there would be an appeal to the country at an early date. Mr Alassey, Leader^ of the Opposition, dealt with the ■ appointments to the Legislative Council,* saying the %ppci:itments would nqf, have been •Aosen by the people. " On the land question he criticised Mr McNab's -peeches 1 , and said the great majority ->f the people of Auckland were free-, holders. Although a small party in the liouse they would be able to 'ceep the flag of freehold flying in ipite of the violent and treacherous torpedoes, of the single taxers and socialistic faddists.
