This Afternoon. The statement that the Duke will present fche colours to any corps in New Zealand is incorrect. It is desired officially that this misstatement be corrected. The Governor this morning* personally presented the Oup he had given as Hon. Colonel of tho Wellington Battalion to the Wellington Hifies, who won it in competition for field firing. The Duchess of York to-day received from a deputation representing the women of Wellington a gift of a model carved Maori house. The presentation was made by Mrs 11. D. As the carving is yet unfinished the model belonging to Lady Kanfurly was used. The gift itself wil be forwarded to England later on.
