[By Telegraph'.] (From a Correspondent.) LYELL, April 23. Tlio Alpine manager • reports :— The driving of the No. 10 main eouth level is still being carried on. The size of tbc reef remains as when last reported. Work in tbs leading stope bas been continued during the week, but has now been temporarily suspended owing to tbe work getting too close up to tbe face of the level. The horse of mnlluck met in the level below haß now come in this stope, and we have started to rise for the second stope. ln the upper stopfs thore is no change, either in the size or quality of the roef. In the 126 feet luvel the chamber for the .pump has been completed, and we ere now engaged cutting out a chamber. at the . junotion of this level with the main shaft The crosscut east from No. i level has ' . been driven a distance of six feet, making , the total length of oro-scut 46 feet. Ti.e ;~- country is not quite so wet as It has rej - • cently been, but otherwise tbere is.no * improvement. During the week 210 tons of stono have been sent to tbo bittery, , The result of scraping the top plates is 141 ozs amalgam from 230 tons. PERTH, April 22. Splendid telluride ore has been struck in the Australia mioe. A couple of cwt of atone yielded 250 oz. gold.

THE PIONEERS AND A.G.T. COMPANY Respecting the yield of 65 ozs of gold . from a trial crushing of 20 tons of stone taken from the Pioneer and Australasian Gold Trust reef, the " Golden Bay Argus" says : - Tbe stone was taken oub' of tbe reef at varions places, and may be taken aa a fair sample. The reef varies in thiokness from two feet to abont seven feet, and has been proved to exist in a considerable portion of the company's property. The locality ol the Pioneer reef from whiob the yield bas been obtained is about three quarters of a mile from the Tuitapu reef a' Golden Ridge in o southeasterly direction, The gold is-now on view in* tho window of Mr Moyes, in Trafalgar street.
