THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS.

The Christmas holidays will begin to-morrow, and a large number of amusements have been provided for those who have not left the city and district and for those who aro on a visit to them. The tourist travel is not as great as usual at this season of the year owing to the absence of excursion rates on the steamers and of extri steamers, bit there are a good many visitors who will enjoy the beautiful weather and the many attractions of Nelson. Tms evening there will be a great gathering of people in the streets, and the shops wilfbe open till a late hour.
