The Accident to the Takapuna.
[United Press Association.. ■Wbllinotok, This Day. The Magisterial inquiry into the recent striking of the Takapuna on the rocks near Alligator Point will be held on "Wednesday next.
The Dunedin "JStar " of Saturday announces the death of Mr Paul Clifford, one of the founders of the Otago Acclimatisation Society, and the first man to I import trout to New Zealand, he having I brought from Tasmania a snipment of ova that served to originally stock several of onr streams. It was at Mr Clifford's instigation, also, that the Society introduced lobsters to the colony. He made experiments at his home in London whioh demonstrated the possibility of keeping lobsters in captivity, and notwithstanding the advice of experts, who said that lobsters would not stand the voyage, the Society trusted Mr Clifford's experience, and brought the lobsters out.
