A NAPIER COMMENT.

Commenting onthe results of the election, the Napier "Herald," writing on Friday night before the lull returns were in, said :— " Those marked as Independent will gravitate naturally to the Opposition, while somo of the new members classed as Government supporters, Buch as Mr Holland, of AucKland, and others, have so severely criticised the Ministerial policy, administration, and legislation, that if Ministers do not act more moderately they they will soon be found in active opposition. The Maori elections will strengthen the Opposition by at least one vote. The net result of the election is that, though Mr Seddon comes back with a majority, his power for mischief will be so curtailed that he might almost as well have been dofeated."
