The Christchurch Hospital.

At a meeting of the Hospital Board today a large deputation, representing a number of labour and polttical organisations and other bodies, asked the Board to institute a public inquiry into certain charges made against the institution. Another deputation from the St. Saviour's Guild asked the Board to make provisions for the treatment of contagions diseases, lt was decided to hold a special meeting on Tuesday to consider both questions. The Board, by live votes to four, rescinded the resolution adopting Dr MacGregor's report recommending the dismissal of certain members of the staff. The Charitable Aid.; Board to-day empowered the Charitable Aid. Cammittee to appoint a female inspector.' The Hoard went into Cowwifcvee'to. cwwider the following twin

Dr M> cGregor :— " lam directed by the Hon W. P. Reeves to suggest to your your Board that in view of the suggestive verdict of the late Royal Commission in tho matter of the charges made against yonr relieving oflicer, that Department is of opinion that he cannot continue to exercise his functions with advantage either to the public, the Board, or himself " On resinning it was reported that the following resolution had been carried: — "That the Hoard, having considered the letter from the Hon W. P. Reeves, is unable to agree with the views expressed therein, and that in tho judgment of the Board the action already taken meets in every way the ends of justice."
