" The average attendance at the school has been somewhat smaller during the past year than that of the previous year, owinjr, in a great measure, to the prevailing enidomii s which have succeeded one another so rapidly. " Since your Committee took office the School Attendance Ac*, 1894, has become law. This Act makes it compulsory for the Committee to take action in cases where parents neglect to send their children to school. Your Committee have only found it necessary to take extreme measures with one individual, who from religious scruples failed to obey the la iv . '■ In conclusion, your Committee consider it a matter for congratulation that the school is under the management of so excellent a headmaster and capable stall' of teachers, and they trust that the good feeling existing between the Committee, teachers, and pupils may long continue."
