LAND BOARD.

The Larid Board met yesterday, when Messrs 0. Curtis, Hursthouse, and Commie* Bioner Greenfield vrore present. The minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. Prospecting Licenses. The undermentioned licenses were granted for 12 months, viz :— No. 365, W. A. Hills, 10 acres, Rintoul district ; 366, Z, C. Home, 440 acres, Ngakawau ; 367, John Gilmer, 400 acres, Ngakawau. The two last subject to the approval of the Minister of Lands. The undermentioned licenses were also renewed for six months, viz :— 331, J. Kerr. 640 acres, Waitapu ; 332, J. Kerr, 640 acres, Pakawau ; 333, Percy B. Adams, 640 acres, Pakawau. Mineral Leases. Letter from Mr R. Rowlands, of Westport, applying, on behalf oi shareholders in a mineral lease held by Mr A. D. Bayfeild, of section 6, Block A'V, Mokihinui, for certain concessions in the conditions thereof, was read. Resolved, That before the Board can consider the application the arrears of rent must be paid. Mr Pitt attended on behalf of Mr W. S. Smith, relative to the conditions submitted for the construction of a railway from Mr Smith's coal lease at Point Elizt-beth to the port of shipment at Oobden, •. Resolved, That the Board agree to recommend that the condition " that in the event of the coal lease being cancelled or surrendered the right to the railway should be determined also," be struck out, and a clause inserted to the effect " that should the railway be taken over by the Government during the currency of the lease, or at the expiration of the term gsanted, reasonable compensation be paid." Accommodation House Rksexv.es. Resolved, That the Board recommend the lease of the Upper Motueka Reserve (known as Stewart's) should be let by public auction, for the term of 14 years on. the conditions contained in the draft lease submitted by the Commissioner, and that Mr Stewart's improvements be protected by the sum of £150 being the upset price of the lease. Resolved. That the license held by Mr Wright for the accommodation house and land in Motueka Valley be renewed for seven years on the same terms and conditions. The undermentioned application for lease was refused, viz. :— No. 1861, W. Bird, section 5, block IV., Waitakere.
