The English Government have determined to abandon all claim to the Island of Raiatea. It is rumored that an exchange of portfo-
lios in the Cabinet is likely, Lord Derby, Secretary of State for the Colonies, exchanging with Lord Carlingford, Lord President of the Council and Lord Privy Seal. The Australasian Mortgage Agency Company have declared a bonus of 2 per cent, and a dividend of 8 per cent., carrying £15,000 to the reserve fund. It has been proposed to increase the capital to half a million. London, December 31. The members of the Stock Exchange protest strongly against the alienation of the New Zealand Sinking Fund.
