Rumors which have gained credence here are current to the eifect that a Conference of the powers on the Egyptian question is about to take place at Paris. Caiuo, January 1. Lord Wolseley lias received at the hands of an Arab messenger a piece of paper signed " Gordon " and with the words " All right, December 14," written upon ifc. The Mudir of Dongola has telegraphed stating that the Mahdi has been repeatedly replused with heavy luss hy General Gordon's troops at Onder man, a village a short distance to the south-west, and had withdrawn to Jabtira, two days' journey to the southward. He also refused to lead his army against Dongola.
