MR. CURTIS IN THE COUNTRY.

o During the past week Mr. Curtis has heen holdirg most satisfactory meetings in the conntry districts. At the Upper Moutere, ou Tuesday evening, there were about 50 present, Mr. C. Killing in the chair, and the majority were evidently in favor of Mr. Cutis. On the following evening he met ahout the same number of electors at the Lower Moutere, wheu the chair was taken by Mr. Tarrant. At the termination of his address, Mr. Robson proposed the following resolution which was carried uuauimously : " That after the able speech made by Mr. Curtis explaining the manner in which he had conducted the affairs of the province for the last two years, this meeting is of opinion that the confidence of the electors should be again given him for the next four years." At Motueka on Thursday Mr. Curtis was received most enthusiastically, and tbe meeting was crowded to sueh au extent that many peisons were unable to obtain admittance. The chair was taken 'hy Mr. F. Greeuwood, and a vole of thanks to the Superintendent, which was proposed by Mr. Jeunings, was carried with great applause. Mr. Curtis was to visit Riwaka lust night, but we have not yet heard how he was received there. To-niirht he holds a meeting at the Blaek Horse, Wakapuaka.
