The Late Land Purchases. — For a full and clear account of the circumstances attending the purchases of land afc Wangapeka, we refer our readers to the report of Mr. Curtis' meeting at Waimea West which appears elsewhere.

The Electba, lately arrived at Wellington, from London, brought 95 cases of Snider rifles ami 1025 packages of Snider ammunition for the General Government.

Quartz Specimens. — We have to-day seen at the Galatea Hotel two rich sp°cimens of auriferous quartz, which have been brought in lately, one from the head of the Maitai and the other from the Dun Mountain Range. No doubt Bomethiug more will be heard from these localities before long.

The Wangapeka Quartz Reefs. — The excitement consequent upon the late discoveries in the Wangapeka was by no means allayed by the arrival in town this morning of two men from that district who report that the reefs, which, they say, are very numerous, have every appearance of being exceedingly rich. A rush has set in from all parts ofthe country and we understand that the purchases lately made at the Laud Office are not recognised by the diggers, who are busily employed in pegging off claims in all directions. We shall look witb much auxiety for the report of Mr. Burnett whose arrival in town is expected on Friday next.
