THE THAMES DIGGINGS.

(From the Auckland Papers'). 0 The result of the past week's crushing for the Golden Crown Claim at Goodall's machine is 580ozs of gold. Of this quantity, 130ozs. lOdwts. is the result of a retorting which took place recently, when the amalgamating pans were cleaned up, so that the total result obtained from the amalgam taken offHhe plates is 4490zs lOdwts.r for which about 60 tons of stone were crushed. The City of Glasgow : Another parcel of very rich specimens was taken out of the leader in this claim yesterday, and some of these' were exhibited at our office. They were amongst the richest we have seen from any claim on the Thames. The Maid of Karaka : Gold was struck yesterday in the Maid of Karaka Claim, - next the Hokianga and Rejected Claims, Karaka Creek. The Never-too-Late-to-Mend Claim : The workmen have just taken out some fine-looking specimens from a quartz vein, which in all probability is one of the feeders of the reef for which they are now driving. Several tons of quartz are now ready for crushing. A splendid parcel of amalgam was brought into town to-day, the result of a crushing of stone for the Colleen Bawn at the Halcyon Company's battery. About 22 tons have been put through, and this amalgam (140oz. — a very fine sample) has been taken from the plates alone, the stamper boxes not having yet been cleaned out. A new leader was opened in the Colleen Bawn to-day, three feet thick, composed of mullock and blue quartz, which shows evidence of getting more solid the lower it is cut. Another parcel of rich specimens were taken out of the new leader lately opened in the Inverness Claim on Saturday. The leader improves in appearance as it is opened, and appears to have been cut in its smallest part. We believe it is intended to take out a quantity of stone for crushing immediately, and, if the leader continues as rich fas it at presen s appears, the returns will be enormous.
