Wesletan Church. — We are requested to state that sermons will be preached in this church, to-morrow morning and evening, by the Rev. Thns. Buddie, of Christchurch. Rifle Shooting. — The Wanganui Volunteers do not appear to be proficients in the use of their rifles. A match recently took place between twelve of the Cavalry and a similar number of the Veteran Corps, 15 shots each at the 300, 400, and 500 yards ranges, when, out of a possible score of 1440, the 24 competitors only succeeded in making 720, or an average of outers, the score at the 500 yards being only 119 out of a possible 480. Rush to the Wakajmardia. — By the Airedale this morning there arrived from Auckland between 30 and 40 diggers who intend trying their luck at the long neglected Wakamarina. We understand that the Rangatira was to leave Manukau with 375 more, and that she may be expected here to-night or to-morrow morning. Steamer Lady Barkly. — Mr Cross informs us that he has received a telegram from the General Government asking what subsidy he would require for his boat to run between Patea and Wanganui. We are glad to find that we are not to lose the services of this valuable little steamer, as her owner is of opiuion that the Blind Bay trade is likely to prove jquite as remunerative as that between Wanganui and Patea. H.M.S. Galatea. — Our readers will, we are sure, be glad to hear that the Duke of Edinburgh is to visit Nelson in his own ship. Although her size is too great to admit of her entering the harbor, we have no doubt that ample opportunities of visiting this noble vessel, as she lies at the outer anchorage, will be afforded by some of our local steamers, and the inhabitants of Nelson will thus be able to form an idea of the class of vessels of which England's navy is composed. Mr Henry Wrigg. — Mr Henry Wrigg has announced himself a candidate for the representation of the district of Newton, rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr George Graham.
