TARANAKI MASSACRE.

A meeting of Taranaki men was held at Butt's Hotel, Shortland, on Saturday last, to express sympathy with the relatives and friends of the victims of the racent massacre at the White Cliffs, Taranaki, when the following address to Mrs Whiteley was drawn up and signed by the chairman on behalf of the meeting: — Shortland, Thames, Feb. 20, 1869. Much Eespected Madam— We, the undersigned committee, appointed at a meeting of the late residents of Taranaki, held at the Thames this day, the 20th of February, 1869, beg to express, on behalf of ourselves and the meeting generally, our deep sympathy with you and family in your sad bereavement.
