THE KARAMEA.
To the Editor of the Nelson Evening Mail. Sir—l have just arrived in town, and hearing that the Government have determined on making Jones's track to the Ivuratnea district as far as the foot of the saddle, and within three miles of the Leslie River, where I have just been working, I would express mv hope that no time will be lost in doing this, as several parties have already left the Kanunea. where they were making fair wages, because they found it impossible to carry on there through the difficulty they experienced in obtaining continuous supplies of provisions. A man working on the Leslie may easily make from 15s to £1 a day, provided that provisions are near an-i at a reasonable price, and there is every reason to beiiuve that, could the transport of supplies be rendered more feasible than ie is at present, a very large number of diggers would gladly resort to the Karamea to try their fortunes there. Yours, &c, Prospector. ' . Nelson, January 1, 1868
