THE SANITARY REPORT.

To the Editor op the Nelson Evening Mail. Sir —Wili you do me the favor to correct a misprint which appeared in the Colonist on the 19th instant, and which was copied iuto the Examiner of this morning, as unintelligible nonsense and faulty orthography are imputed to me, of which I am innocent. It is the latter part of the second paragraph of my letter of which I have to complain. What I did write was this: — "Whenever sewage is carried by water, unless the current be rapid and continuous, there will always be deposited upon the banks of such river or stream a putrescent slime or ooze, of a very offensive and deleterious character." Again, in the fourth line ox the fourth paragraph confusion is created by the sentence being wrongly punctuated; it should read : — " grass land is not only particularly benefited by its application, but possesses a singular power of disinfecting or deodorising it, for sewage water if passed over a sufficient area of grass land will run off, it is said, quite clear and without either taste or odour." By correcting the above errors you will oblige Yours, etc., Geo. Williams. Trafalgar-square, July 20, 1867.
