The sergeant -at-arms having endeavored to restrict it to £5 a -day. The excitement in Melbourne respecting this attack upon the liberties of the press is intense. March 31, 1860. Mr. Fellows has been unable to form a Ministry. A motion passed in the Legislative Council to liberate Mr. George. Mr. Me wii I loch and his colleagues have consented to transact the pressing business of Government, but had not accepted office. In the case of Bruce v. Queen, the jury returned a verdict for plaintiff for =£177,000, with a special finding to the eil'ect tbat the delay in completing the line was due to hindrances caused by Government agents.
