Kaiapoi Brass Band's 53rd Annual Meeting
The 53rd annual meeting of the Kaiapoi Brass Baud took place on Monday evening in the Band room, Mr J. Hirst, president, presiding over a good attendance of members. The secretary (Mr A. Richards), in his report stated that during the year programmes had been played at the Pines and on the rotunda. Three Lodge parades and the Anzac Day service were attended. Proceeds from carolling had amounted to £l3/15/10 and two concerts organised by Mrs H. Rinaldi and Mr A. O. Eyles netted £3/7/6.
Once again the band was indebted to its president, Mr J. Hirst, for his splendid work during band week, when he collected the sum of £32. The balance sheet showed the receipts for the year as £BS/8/11 and expenditure as £lO2/13/5, leaving a debit balance of £l7/4/6 on the year's working. The following officers were elected: President, Mr J. Hirst; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Hall, C. Brockelbank, F. Richards and W. Lintott (snr.); secretary and treasurer, Mr A. Richards; committee, Messrs J. Anderson, H. Miles (junr.), C. Green, E. Forrest and J. Murray; auditor, Mr G. Hirst; conductor, Mr W. R. Lintott; custodian, Mr J. Hall; drum-major, Mr J .G. Yellowlees. It was decided to write to the Canterbury Bands' Association asking for a ruling on the authority of outside bands encroaching on the local band's territory.^
