YEAR BRINGS MANY CHANGES
Activities of Carriers’ Association MORE REFORMS ANTICIPATED A year of greater progress than ever before since the llangiora branch of the New Zealand Transport Alliance was formed was reviewed in the report presented to the annual meeting last night. Mr F. Elderton presided over an attendance of 10 members. Most of this progress, it was stated, had been due to the work of the No. 3 Licensing Authority in forcing all carriers tp fix prices and adhere to a strict schedule. However, still more changes were anticipated. From information received it ivas apparent that sooner or later all. vehicles in town or country would have to be licensed. Some anomalies had also become apparent in the existing system, and efforts would be made to have these put right at the end of the current year. Changing conditions would still further emphasise the need for co-opera-tion in the industry. The balance-sheet showed fhat last year’s credit of £l6/12/3 had been increased to £3l/17/4. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr F. Elderton; executive, Messrs W. T. Henry, V. J. Corbett, It. G. Grant, I. G. Watkins, F. Wilson, W. J. Borrell, F. Cobden Cox; secre-tary-treasurer, Mr W. C. Prosser; auditor, Mr W- C. McCracken; delegate, Mr It. G. Grant. Three new members were elected: Messrs W. L. Oldman and L. A. Dailey (Oxford), E. H. Moore (Kaiapoi). It was decided to send remits to the Wellington conference on April 12.
