Free Exports By Japanese
TOKIO, Wed., (1 p.m.).— General MacArthur tonight announced that all Japanese exports would be placed on a private basis from tomorrow.
Exporters will be permitted to handle business direct with foreign banks, according to normal commercial practice. The Japanese Diet today passed the Foreign Excnange and Trade Control Bill, authorising the freeing of trade. The law provides that "exporters exercise due respect for the laws and regulations prohibiting unfair competition in the country of final destination,” says General MacArthur’s announcement.
The Japanese Govern ment is preparing legislation placing imports on the same free basis by January 1, 1950, added the announcement.
