November Was Wet
Weather in Whangarei during November was wet compared with other years. The total of 18 separate falls of rain was 8.14ir.., compared with an average for tlv month of 3.63 in.
Falls of more than lin. occurred on the 6th (1.02in.>. 9th (141 in.), 12th (1.72 in.) and 25th (1.41in.L
Following the previous month, which had the lowest October total on record, the rain was more noticeable, and was particularly beneficial to farm land which was drying out. In effect the Novembe rains this year brought on the spring growth of the district.
Although B.Min. is an unusually heavy fall for November, it is by no means the heaviest on record as 10.11 in. fell in 1936, while the tightest fall for November was .60in. in the 1946 drought. Temperatures at 8 a.rn. ranged from 57 degrees to 67 degrees, with uncomfortable humidity on some days when the mid-day reading was over 80 degrees.
Inclement weather during the month was reflected in the barometric pressures which fluctuated considerably from day to day.
