Record Score of 613 At Patiala
NEW DELHI, Sun. (12.30 a.m.)— The Commonwealth cricket team piled up a record 613 runs for the loss of seven wickets before declaring its first innings closed on the second day of the match against North Zone, at Patiala.
The previous record of 7/571 was made by the West Indies team on the same ground last year. Ray Smith, the Essex all-rounder scored the third century of the innings —an enterprising 119 not out
.Tack Pettiford (New South Wales) scored 70 and Wally Langcion (Western Australia) 67 The North Zone’s most successful bowler was its capuin. the Maharaja of Patiala, who took 3 for 88. At stumps North Zone had lost two for 39.
