Lift Ban On Fishing

RUSSELL, Mon. (SpJ— In order to alleviate hardship among Maori fishermen, the ban placed by the Maoris on fishing in the waters of a section of the Bay of Islands, following the drowning of a Maori woman, Miss Mary Pera. on October 14, was lifted just after midday on Saturday, after being in operation for only a fortnight.

The ban was originally imposed for one month, but after a conference at Kaikohe between relatives of the drowned woman and the Rawhiti Tribal Committee, it was decided to lift the ban.
