Trades Council Supports Cancer Appeal

"It is essential that the menace ol cancel - should be attacked, and money is needed to fight the disease," said the secretary cf the Whangarei Trades and Labour Council (Mr H. H. Boreham) speaking on the cancer campaign sponsored in Whangarei by the Rotary Club; “We must be represented, and every member should go if possible,” he continued. Mr Boreham was speaking at at the meeting of the Trades Council in Whangarei last night. Mr J. Bryant was appointed delegate to the public meeting to be called by the Whangarei Rotary Club. He was empowered to pledge the support of the council to any cflort to raise money for the campaign. Mr Boreham recalled that the Whangarei branch of the New Zealand Carpenters’ Union had given £25 to the campaign last year, and he considered that little enough.

Every union should be approached to aid the fund which would be used to fight a disease which, figures proved, would be responsible for the death of one in every eight people in New Zealand, Mr Boreham said.
