£BSOO Compromise In Fire Claim

CHRISTCHURCH, Fri. (Sp.).—A £BSOO compromise was approved by Mr Justice Northcroft yesterday in a claim by Kathleen Norah Stewart against J. Ballantync and Co'., Ltd. Mrs Stewart's husband, Mawson Stewart, lost his life in the Ballantync fire on November 18, 1947. The claim 'was for £12,500, said her counsel, Mr A. H. Cavell, but a settlement had been made for £BSOO. The proposed apportionment was £4OO for the widow, £2160 for the older boy, and £2340 for the younger aged two.
