Unanimous Opinion On Amalgamation Sought
KAITAIA, Fri. (Sp.).—lf possible, unanimous opinion should be recorded by all six Northland hospital boards affected by the Health Department’s amalgamation proposals to take effect from February 1, 1950. This view was adopted by the Mangonui Hospital Board yesterday when advice of the proposals was received from the Director General of Health (Dr T. R. Ritchie). /
To discuss the full implications- of amalgamation, the board deci led to held a special meeting on Wednesday October 2u.
It was also agreed to transmit findings from this meeting to ail other Northland boards and endeavour to secure their views in turn.
If considered practicable or necessary. the Mangonui biard will suggest a conference of all boards affected by amalgamation with the object of reaching unified opinion. One set of suggestions from all boards would carry greater weight with the department and would bs advantageous to Northland hosp'tals’ future, members agreed.
The amalgamated hoard should commence its career wth unanimity, the chairman (Mr J, W. Hoskin) said.
