HAMILTON, Wed. (Sp.'.—About 250 manufacturers arc exhibiting New Zealand-made goods at the industries fair which opened at Hamilton yesterday. By far the larger proportion of space is devoted to displays of ordinary consumer goods, such as clothing, footwear, furnishings, household accessories. cosmetics, glassware, toys, confectionery, sports goods and plastic products. One of the outstanding features of the fair is the Government, court —a lavish exhibit setting out in graphic form the work of the main Government departments. It includes many illuminated panels with working accessories which spring into action at the touch of a button the spectator is invited to press. The fashion parade which is introduced, described by a woman announcer from Hamilton’s radio station, features New Zealand-made clothes cut to patterns supplied from California. Just inside the entrance to the fair a giant serpentine-shaped banner announces: “What New Zealand Makes —Makes New Zealand."
The organisers expect over 100,000 visitors to the fair, which will bo open every day and evening until and including Labour Day.
