Car Loans For Disabled Soldiers

WELLINGTON, Thu., (P.A.).— The Government has decided to extend the irtterest-free loan- of £2OO to assist in the purchase of motor cars to approved ex-servicemen of 85 per cent locomotive disability from World War I.

This .assistance has been available for some time to similar cases from World War 11., the loan becoming a grant after the recipient has been in possession of the car for two years. "I am sure the advice from the Minister of Finance (Mr Nash) to this effect will be very welcome news to • war amputees throughout New Zealand,” said Mr C. E. Butcher, Dominion president of the. New Zealand War Amputees Association today. “Of course there are anomalies such as an amputee with only 75 per cent locomotive disability, plus 25 per cent or more disability from other wounds.” added Mr Butcher. “My association is engaged in a survey of such cases with a view to placing a policy before, the New Zealand Patriotic Fund Board. “It is hoped the board will supplement the Government grant as at present in .some cases, and will agree to assist such disabled men as do not come within the scope of Government assistance. ,
