Record Health Stamp Sales
In the first week of issue Health Stamps valued at £82,500 were sold throughout the Dominion. This is the highest sale for the period on record, and £7571 in advance of the first-week sales last year.
In Northland first-week sales totalled £1607.
Sales at the principal Northland post offices were: Whangarei, £553/3/9; Awanul, £l7/11/-; Broadv/ood, £ll/1/-; Herektno, £3/13/6; Dargaville, £225/15/-; Hikurangi, £l9/4/-: Kaeo, £6/17/-; Kalkohe, £76/10/-; Kaitaia, £57/10/-; Kaiwaka, £ls/3/-; Kamo, £23/10/-: Kawakawa. £27/3/-; Kerikerl Central, £l2/19/-; Kohukohu, £ls/13/-; Mangonut, £7/3/-; Maungakaramea, £l/13/-; Maungaturoto, £l7/17,'-; Ohaewal, £ls/17/-; Okaihau. £6/5/-; Palhia. £7/12/-; Paparoa. £2O/0/-; Rawene, £36/3/-; Ruawal, £63/13/6; Russell. £lB4/5/-; Towai, £3/12/9; Walotira, 13/6; Waipu. £29/18/-; Whakapara, £3/5/-. Health stamps sales at the Auckland Chief Post Office and suburban offices in the first week totalled £9620, compared with £BI7O last year.
Auckland district offices sold £1697 in stamps, an increase of nearly £3OO. Stamp collectors say that various flaws found in this year’s issue are largely responsible for the increased demand.
