POSTAL UNION STAMPS Possibly the first of a world-wide issue of stamps commemorating the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Universal Postal Union, a first-day cover from Australia bearing two stamps has been received by Mr J. Worthington, of Whangarei. The Australian stamps, blue in colour, depict a mail carrier on horseback and an aeroplane in the sky. Us denomination is 3jd. Along the bottom of the stamp are the words “1374—Universal Postal Union—l9l9.“ It was issued on October 10. These are for those who know values at Henry Wilson’s Single bed twill sheeting, 5/9 yard; 54in. ditto, hemmed, 29/3 pair; 80in. unbleached sheets. 39/6 pair; 80in. white ditto, 48/9 pair; heavy grey towels from 4/11 pair; and strong linen tea towels, 5/9, for 3/6 pair.
