May Seize Hoarded Gas

MELBOURNE, Tue. (11.30 a.m.).—A conference of State Premiers will today consider seizure of hoarded petrol stocks, said the Premier (Mr Hollway).' He said the State Governments believed that “petrol hogs” were hoarding large stocks of petrol in anticipation of the reimposition of petrol rationing. The Victorian State Minister said the conference would probably agree to a ticket rationing scheme which the Commonwealth would administer and finance.

Under the scheme motorists probably would get 10 per cent less petrol than under the previous scheme. Controls would probably operate from November 1. All State Governments except Victoria have agreed to transfer theii rationing powers to the Commonwealth Government.

Victoria proposes to administer its own rationing scheme parallel with the Commonwealth scheme, but will not transfer its powers.
