About 350 head of station cattle were offered at the Tarua Bay sale held at Mr V. Beazley’s yards on Thursday. ( With the exception of one pen of store steers, a total clearance was effected. Competition was keen from a large bench of buyers and prices were well up to late were:—Forward conditioned 4-vear Shorthorn steers £l6/4 -; cows and runners to £l6/14/-: cross breed 3vear steers £l2/4/.; 2-year Shorthorn steers £9/10/- to £lO/10/-; 2-year Hereford and Polled Angus stivers to El2/Z-: yearling Shorthorn and Hereford steers. £7 to ft); Polled Angus breeding cows £lO/13/- to £IH Hereford cows £9/17/6 to ‘lO/15/-; 2-year empty Hereford heifers £7/15/- to £3 'll-', small yearling Jersey, heifers £7; 2-vear Hereford heifers r.w.b.; to £B/10/-; springing Jersey heifers to £11; 3-year Polled Angus bulls 12gn to, H At’ the Kamo sales, yardings were small. Dairy cows showing quality and close to profit sold freely, but backward sorts were harder to quit. 1 A moderate entry of pigs changed hands at recent rates. Quotations were: Jersey grows, close to profit, £l2: Jersey heifers, £ll/10/-: small and backward heifers. £7/5/- to £9; crossbred Jcrsey-Ayrshire heifers, backward. £B's / -: Shorthorn heifers, £3/10/to r 0: emptv Shorthorn hifers. £6 to £7: light fat bullocks. £l9; fat cows, £lO/12/0 to £l2/15/-: store cows, £7/18/- to £10: best yearling Jersey heifers. £10; others, £6/10/- to £7; cows and calves. £l2; yearling Shorthorn heifers. £6/10/- to £7; yearling Shorthorn steers, £7. Dairy cows made to £2O and heifers sold to £l6/10/- at the Mangawharc sale. The market lor yearling Jersey heifers was easier, top price for good quality lines being £B'4/-. Fat heifers made from £l4 to £ls. ■
